It has long been the accepted wisdom that cats and all the silly jokes we like to make with them are the glue holding this fragile internet together. Even if there are more appropriate technical explanations for how the World Wide Web keeps on running, it makes a lot of sense that the respected institution that is cat memes plays a fairly large part in it. That is the theory that those who love both cats and internet culture are going to stand by, anyway. 

Our feline friends are funny in real life, but the addition of dumb little jokes and a little Photoshop magic just takes the whole thing to the next level. What is even better is that there are so many people dedicated to the cause of cat memes that we can enjoy them on a regular basis. Here's hoping that it is a tradition that keeps going for a long time.
